Question 1

What does handmade bullion mean?

Accepted Answer

Handmade bullion is shaped and finished by an artisan rather than produced solely through a large-scale automated process. Each piece can reflect the character of its casting, surface treatment, and final finishing work, making professional craftsmanship an important part of the buying decision.

Question 2

How can I understand the metal content of a piece?

Accepted Answer

Look for clear information about the metal, fineness, and stated weight, along with any markings or documentation provided by the maker. A reputable professional should communicate these details plainly so customers can make informed choices.

Question 3

What is the difference between poured, polished, and antiqued finishes?

Accepted Answer

A poured finish reflects the casting process, while polishing refines the surface and can create a brighter appearance. Antiquing adds contrast to selected areas, emphasizing texture and design; the right finish depends on the look and character a customer prefers.

Question 4

Are handmade metal pieces suitable for collecting?

Accepted Answer

They can be appealing to collectors because they combine material content with artistic design, craftsmanship, and individuality. Collectors should consider the piece's stated specifications, condition, presentation, and the maker's clarity when evaluating an addition to their collection.

Question 5

How should I care for a handmade silver or copper piece?

Accepted Answer

Handle metal pieces with clean, dry hands and store them in a dry place away from harsh chemicals, moisture, and unnecessary abrasion. Gentle care helps preserve the surface, while a professional can provide guidance when a particular finish or patina needs special attention.
